Can You Help Us?

Core funding to support the services provided by the Dorset ME Support Group is very important – and difficult to secure, even in the best of times.  This funding is vital for us to be able to do practical work to help relieve the distress and anxiety that this illness causes.  There are various ways you may be able to help, and some options are set out below.

Fundraising Events and Volunteers

We organise our own fundraising events, and if you would like to volunteer to help on one of these we would be pleased to hear from you.  Just contact our Group Administrator by telephone or email, and she will be ale to let you know what events are programmed for your area.

But we are particularly pleased if supporters are prepared to organise their own events to raise funds on our behalf.  Sponsored events, e.g. marathons, cycle rides, swims etc can be very rewarding both to take part in, and financially.  Car boot sales, or cake and preserve stalls at local events can also be productive.  If you have any suggestions for events you would like to organise, we have a fundraising group who would be happy to advise and support you.  Contact our Group Administrator in the first instance.

Donations

If you are a taxpayer, then online giving through our partners [Just Giving] is very cost effective as we can benefit from Gift Aided tax refunds without cost to yourself.  Using debit cards rather than credit cards (though both are acceptable) results in much lower transaction charges deducted from your donation.

If you are not a taxpayer, you can still use Just Giving, but cheques sent to our Group Administrator are just as welcome, if that is an easier option for you.

See our Donations page for more information.

Legacies

Everyone should make a will, and it is advisable to take legal advice before you do.  If you would like to help the Dorset ME Support Group by remembering us in your will, we would be extremely grateful.  We benefited in this way several years ago and the result was the ability to secure a Benefits Adviser for a few years. We cannot provide such time consuming – but extremely cost effective – services without funding, and legacies are invaluable to us to provide practical help to our members.
