Treasurer’s Report for the Year Ended 31 December 2017
During the year, subscriptions have fallen by 19% as membership has declined, however, we continue to receive generous donations from members and we received £374 from the Friends of DMESG.
Fundraising events included the Dorset Food and Venison Festival which raised £350, of which £198 was matched by Sumitomo Mitsui Bank, and the stall at the Wimborne Minster Folk Festival raised £300. Quiz nights raised £960 which was matched by Barclays Bank. Other fundraising raised £301. Thanks to everyone who helped organise these events and to those who supported them.
We received donations of £400 from Wimborne Minster Town Council, £160 from Waitrose, £780 from G R Edwardes Ltd, £180 from Dorchester Goldmine, £90 from Ferndown Town Council, £100 from Weymouth Rotary Club and £200 from IEC Ltd.
We also received a legacy of £20,000 from Mark Annis for which we are very grateful. We received £105 in memory of deceased members.
Costs of the Service Co-ordinator are financed by Dorset HealthCare University Trust.
Courtesy of those members who have signed a Gift Aid form, we were able to claim £944 from the Inland Revenue.
There is currently £39,526 in non-restricted reserves in the Group’s Accounts.
